Homeowners in Marysville, OH, have lived in their house since it was built 30 years ago. During the last few years, the owners have noticed potential structural issues getting worse. One section of a foundation wall was cracking and appeared to be tilting inward.
Along with the safety and structural integrity of their living environment, the owners were concerned these problems could impact their ability to sell the home some day. They wanted to fix these issues once and for all, so they started to research how to best address these problems. They contacted Ohio Basement Authority after seeing our TV ads, and they were eager to meet with one of our inspectors to learn more about how we could help them.
As he used a laser level and his keen, experienced eye, Inspector Travis Burkart pointed out that the north wall was showing signs of settlement and tipping. He then presented the homeowners with several repair options that would stabilize the wall and prevent any further damage.
The owners were then eager for Foreman Manuel Inguil to lead his crew in installing several IntelliBrace beams. These steel beams are fastened and secured to the floor joists. The beams are then plumbed against the wall as level as possible, and the bottom of the beams are anchored to the floor. These heavy-duty beams are zinc-plated beams so they are protected from corrosion and damage, unlike the other metal and wooden supports that were failing to stabilize the walls. Another unique feature with this system is the ability to tighten the beams during dry seasons to potentially improve and straighten the wall over time.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing this reliable repair solution has helped ensure their home’s structural stability for many years to come.

As the new homeowners took possession of the house, they were equally eager to move forward with this project.
Foreman Milton Castro and his crew then reinforced the problematic foundation walls with several Carbon Fiber supports. These heavy-duty supports firmly adhere to the walls to permanently stabilize them in their current positions. They also protect the walls from any further cracking or inward bowing. While their darker appearance may not be aesthetically pleasing, the low-profile Carbon Fiber supports can easily be concealed with paint or other basement finishing materials.
The new homeowners are pleased to have a safe and stable living environment that they will be able to enjoy for many years to come because of this repair project.
