When homeowners in Mount Vernon, OH, moved into their house not long after it was built 40 years ago, they intended to live in the home for many years. That is why the owners want to maintain a safe and healthy home.
Recently, however, the homeowners began to question just how safe and healthy their living environment really was. They began to notice water leaking inside the basement every time it rained, and it was obvious that the existing sump pump system could not keep up with the demand to pump water out of the home.
The homeowners wanted to address these issues to ensure the long-term health of their home. After seeing Ohio Basement Authority’s TV ads, the owners were motivated to contact us to learn more about how we could help them. They met with one of our inspectors who assessed the basement’s condition. The inspector then recommended some of our reliable basement waterproofing solutions.
Foreman Milton Castro led his crew in waterproofing the basement with the BasementGutter and grated drainage systems, SafeDri sump pumps and FreezeGuards.
The basement’s perimeter was excavated to properly install BasementGutter in the sub-floor. This unique system is designed to sit atop the footing and accept water from the walls and floor. The flangeless, low-profile drainage system was placed in front of the walk-out access door and tied into the BasementGutter system.
Any water intercepted by BasementGutter or the drainage system is directed to the SafeDri sump pumps. Equipped with two powerful pumps inside the liner, as well as an external backup battery, the SafeDri will always work to pump water out of the basement. FreezeGuards were attached to the exterior sump pump discharge lines to allow water to continue to escape the lines if they freeze or become blocked.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing this project has been completed to help them create a safe and healthy forever home.
