Permanent Waterproofing Solutions Will Keep a Newer Home Dry in New Albany, OH

Challenge

Homeowners in New Albany, OH, moved into their newly built home two years ago. It wasn’t until recently, however, that they noticed some dampness in the basement. This problem seemed to worsen during periods of heavy summertime rain.

While the homeowners have no immediate plans to move from the house, they wanted to take a proactive approach to make sure the basement will be dry when they decide to sell the house in the future. As the owners began to research how to address this, they came across information about Ohio Basement Authority online.

They were motivated to contact us to learn more about how we could help them, and they met with Patrick Moonan. Patrick completed a thorough evaluation of the basement, including the existing sump pump, and he presented the homeowners with some of our reliable basement waterproofing solutions.

Solution

Per Patrick’s recommendations, one of our crews, led by Foreman Milton Castro, installed several of these trustworthy products that included BasementGutter, SafeDri Triple, dehumidifier, and FreezeGuards.

The wall-floor joint along the basement’s perimeter was excavated in order to install the BasementGutter system. BasementGutter is engineered to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing. This special drainage system also is designed to accept seeping water from the walls and floor.

This water is then directed to the SafeDri Triple sump pump that was installed to replace the home’s existing sump pump. Equipped with three powerful pumps inside its liner, as well as an external backup battery, the reliable SafeDri Triple will always work to pump any seeping water out of the basement. The backup battery ensures the system’s operation even during the event of a power outage, and it allows the system to pump more than 11,500 gallons of water on a full charge.

Additionally, two FreezeGuards were attached to the exterior sump pump discharge lines to ensure the water pumped out of the home will have an easy escape if the discharge line should freeze or become blocked. We also installed the compact, energy-efficient dehumidifier to clean and filter the air, control moisture and humidity, and eliminate odors and the potential for mold growth.
