After living in their house for eight years, homeowners in London, OH, were ready to put their house on the market. Before doing so, they knew they needed to tackle various repair projects throughout the home, including addressing sagging, uneven floors.
While researching potential repairs, the homeowners noticed Ohio Basement Authority service trucks on the roads and parked at nearby homes while crews completed repair projects. They gave us a call, eager to meet with one of our inspectors and learn more about how we could help them.
One of our inspectors then visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the home and its problematic, sagging floors. He ventured into the crawl space and found improper support systems in the crawl space of the 127-year-old house. Because of the home’s age and the time it was built, it was common for structures to be supported with wood, wooden beams, and brick columns. Our inspector found these systems in the crawl space to be failing and not properly supporting the above floors, thus resulting in sagging and uneven areas.
The inspector discussed his findings with the homeowners, as well as their goals with a repair project. He then presented the homeowners with one type of our many reliable foundation repair solutions.
One of our crews then installed several steel support beams reinforced by IntelliJacks underneath them.
IntelliJacks may appear to be similar to typical jack posts, but they are far superior in many ways. The heavy-duty IntelliJacks are made of galvanized steel to enhance their durability, as well as resist rust, corrosion, and rot. The IntelliJacks permanently stabilize the above floors and help raise them back to the proper level. They also are designed to prevent further settling. But if any settling occurs, the IntelliJacks can easily be adjusted. Each support jack has an allowable load capacity of more than 24,000 pounds.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing their home will be a safer and structurally sound living environment for the next owners because of this trustworthy repair project.
