A couple has owned a house in London, OH, for five years, but they have not been able to move into it because of significant repairs that needed to be completed. This included the leaking basement. Water seeped into the basement through the walls and floor, as well as around the fireplace. This resulted in large puddles on the floor and visible water damage.
The homeowners would like to finish the basement and fix up the house so they can finally move in. After discussing their concerns with a trusted friend, their friend suggested they contact Ohio Basement Authority based on his remarkable experiences with us for his waterproofing and foundation repair projects.
The owners were motivated to contact us to learn more about how we could help them. They met with Inspector John Becker Sr. who visited the owners and completed a thorough evaluation of the home. He discussed his findings with the owners, as well as their goals with the repair project. John then presented the owners with some of our reliable basement waterproofing solutions.
One of our crews then waterproofed the basement with the BasementGutter interior drainage system, SafeDri Prox and SafeDri sump pumps, dehumidifier and FreezeGuard attachments.
The basement’s perimeter was excavated in order to properly install BasementGutter. The BasementGutter system is specifically designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing. This allows the system to intercept seeping water from the walls and floor. This water is then directed to one of the two sump pumps installed in the large basement.
A SafeDri Prox was placed in one corner, and a SafeDri was installed in another corner. The SafeDri’s ½ hp pump inside the liner can pump more than 2,000 gallons of water out of the basement per hour. The SafeDri has the same features, as well as an external backup battery that ensures the system will continue to operate even when the power goes out. FreezeGuards were attached to the exterior sump pump discharge lines to allow draining water an escape route even if the line freezes or becomes blocked.
We also installed the compact, but powerful and energy efficient dehumidifier in the basement. This self-draining dehumidifier cleans and filters the air, controls moisture and humidity, and reduces odors and the potential for mold growth.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing their house is protected by these trustworthy waterproofing solutions.
