After living in their house for several years, homeowners in Newark, OH, noticed a problem with their crawl space. Water was seeping inside a corner of the area and leaving behind visible puddles and water damage.
The homeowners did not want to have to worry about this issue anymore, and they wanted to have it fixed as soon as possible. Eager to find the right solution, the owners began to research how to best address the problem. They were motivated to contact Ohio Basement Authority after finding information about our company on online resource like Home Advisor.
They then met with one of our inspectors who evaluated the leaking crawl space. He pointed out that there were above-ground downspout conductor lines on the other side of the seeping walls. These lines were directed to drain water near the foundation walls. In this case, it is very easy for the draining water to find its way through porous block foundation walls and into the crawl space.
Our inspector then recommended updating the home’s exterior drainage system.
Foreman Jose de Jesus Tellez Ortiz and his crew then installed new downspout conductor lines. The crew used durable 3” and 4” polyethylene pipe for the downspout conductor lines. These lines were attached to the ends of the gutter downspouts and directed away from the home’s foundation to drain water into the yard at the edge of the property. The lines were placed in the ground, and the soil and grass were replaced to conceal the new, buried lines. The ends of these new lines also were concealed by YardWell outlets.
The homeowners are happy to have an updated exterior drainage system that will help keep their home dry.
