After living in their house for several months, homeowners in Grove City, OH, began to notice a possible structural issue in their basement. One of the foundation walls was cracking, and the owners didn’t want this to turn into a significant hazard.
Hoping to nip this problem in the bud right away, the owners began to research how to best address the issue. After seeing Ohio Basement Authority’s TV ads, the owners were motivated to contact us for further guidance. They met with Inspector Jacob Thomas who assessed the condition of the wall. While the wall was not severely failing, Jacob recommended the perfect foundation repair solution to meet the owners’ needs.
One of our crews then installed several Carbon Fiber Supports on the wall.
The crew first sanded down the areas of the wall where the straps would be installed to ensure a clean work area. Then they knocked holes into the bottom portions of the wall, placed rebar – reinforcing steel – into these holes to anchor the wall, and sealed the holes with concrete.
A strong epoxy resin is then applied to the wall and the Carbon Fiber strips. Small steel brackets are attached to the sill plate on the top of the wall to anchor the Carbon Fiber supports. Another coat of epoxy resin is applied to the straps to seal them against the wall.
These durable supports will permanently reinforce the walls where they are installed, as well as prevent any future cracking or inward bowing.
The homeowners are pleased to now have a safe and stable living environment because of this reliable repair solution.
