Basement and Crawl Space Solutions Create a Safe, Dry, and Healthy Home in Heath, OH

Wednesday, March 14th, 2018 by Holly Richards-Purpura

After living in their house for two years, homeowners in Heath, OH, experienced something they hoped to avoid. Water leaked into their finished basement and saturated the carpet.

They called Ohio Basement Authority for an emergency service, and Service Tech Erin Carnahan visited to help them dry out their basement. While there, Erin noticed there was an unhealthy looking crawl space adjacent to the basement area. Upon further investigation, Erin found the crawl space was very dirty, had areas of standing water, and was not properly sealed.

Erin then recommended some of our reliable basement waterproofing and crawl space repair solutions to enhance the health and safety of the home.

Foreman Martimiano Alonso and his crew then completed these repair projects.

The crawl space was waterproofed with the CrawlDrain drainage system and SafeDri Prox sump pump. CrawlDrain is specially designed to sit in the crawl space floor and intercept seeping water from the walls and floor. This water is then directed to the SafeDri Prox to be pumped out of the crawl space.

Drainage matting was placed on the crawl space floor to help direct any water to the CrawlDrain system. This material also enhances the strength and durability of the CrawlSeal liner used to encapsulate the crawl space. CrawlSeal is similar to swimming pool liner, and it completely seals the crawl space from the earth. It also acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, and it helps insulate the crawl space.

The basement was waterproofed in a similar way. BasementGutter was placed in the sub-floor and atop the footer to catch seeping water from the walls and floor. This water drains to the SafeDri sump pump system. The SafeDri is equipped with two powerful pumps inside a large liner, as well as an external backup battery. The latter ensures the system will continue to operate in pumping water out of the home, even during power outages.

Additionally, a dehumidifier was installed in the basement to clean and filter the air, control moisture and humidity, and reduce odors and the potential for mold growth. FreezeGuards also were attached to the exterior sump pump discharge lines to prevent flooding if the lines freeze or become blocked.

The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing their home is protected by these trustworthy solutions.
