After living in their house for 17 years, homeowners in Pickerington, OH, recently noticed a problem in a small crawl space just off of the basement. This area showed signs of water intrusion and damage. The owners use the crawl space to store some of their belongings, and they did not want to have to worry about anything getting ruined because of the leaking water.
After finding information about Ohio Basement Authority online, the owners were motivated to contact us to learn more about how we could help them. They met with Drew Black who evaluated the condition of the crawl space. Drew then recommended some of our reliable solutions to keep the home dry.
One of our crews then worked to waterproof the crawl space. While we have specialized crawl space drain products, we used basement waterproofing products in the crawl space. That is because this particular crawl space was capped with concrete instead of having a dirt or gravel floor.
The perimeter of the crawl space floor was excavated in order to properly install the BasementGutter system. BasementGutter is specially designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing to accept any seeping water from the walls and floor.
This water is then directed to the SafeDri sump pump that was installed in the crawl space. Equipped with two powerful pumps inside a large liner, the SafeDri also features an external backup battery. All of these pieces work together to ensure the system will always work to pump water out of the crawl space, even during power outages. Additionally, FreezeGuards were attached to the exterior sump pump discharge lines to prevent flooding if the pipes should freeze or become blocked.
The homeowners are pleased to have a safe and dry crawl space and home because of these trustworthy repairs.
