Challenge

After recently moving into her house, a new homeowner in Pleasantville, OH, found out there was a significant problem under the house. The basement/cellar area of the home was leaking and resulting in damage. Along with saturating the floor, the seeping water also ruined her HVAC unit.

While this was discouraging to the new homeowner, she was motivated to find the best solution to fix this glaring problem once and for all. She started to research how to address these issues, and she came across information about Ohio Basement Authority on online resources like Home Advisor. She was eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help her.

The owner met with Inspector Andy Kennedy, who completed a thorough evaluation of the basement. Andy then presented the owner with some of our reliable waterproofing solutions that would keep the basement dry.

Solution

The day one of our crews arrived to install these solutions, they found the basement had flooded. Foreman Martimiano Alonso and his crew first worked to rid the basement of the nuisance, and then they quickly got to work so this unfortunate occurrence wouldn’t happen again.

The basement’s perimeter was excavated in order to install the BasementGutter interior drainage system. BasementGutter is specially designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing so it can accept seeping water from the walls and floor.

Any leaking water intercepted by the BasementGutter system is then directed to the SafeDri Battery Backup sump pump system. The SafeDri features two powerful pumps inside its liner, as well as an external backup battery. The latter ensures the continued operation of the system even during power outages. Additionally, a FreezeGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line.

The most problematic area of the basement was the exterior access point. This area behind and in front of the stairs seemed to have the most severe leakage.

CrawlSeal liner was also used to cover the walls throughout the basement, including in the walk-out access area. This waterproof and anti-microbial liner not only improves the appearance of the walls, it also helps direct any water leaking through the walls down to the BasementGutter system below.

The homeowner can rest easier knowing these trustworthy solutions are helping protect her home and creating a safer and healthier living environment.
