After living in her house for four years, a homeowner in Richwood, OH, could no longer sweep a growing problem under the rug. She had grown tired of cleaning up water that seeped inside the basement every time it rained. She also was concerned this vicious cycle could lead to significant damage in the basement.
Motivated to have this problem fixed for good, the owner began to research the best way to address the issue. She came across information online about Ohio Basement Authority, and she was eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help her. One of our inspectors visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the basement, and he recommended some of our reliable basement waterproofing solutions.
One of our crews then waterproofed the basement with BasementGutter, SafeDri, FreezeGuard and CrawlSeal.
The basement’s perimeter was first excavated in order to properly install the BasementGutter system. BasementGutter is designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing to catch seeping water from the walls and floor. This water is then directed to drain into the SafeDri sump pump.
The SafeDri features two powerful pumps inside its liner, as well as an external backup battery. All of these features work together to ensure the system will always work to pump water out of the basement even during power outages. A FreezeGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line to prevent flooding if the line should freeze or become blocked. This discharge line also was tied into new downspout conductor lines that were installed on the property.
Additionally, the walls were covered in CrawlSeal liner. CrawlSeal is typically used for crawl space encapsulation projects, but it also has other practical application. Any water that leaks through the walls will automatically run behind the CrawlSeal liner and down to the BasementGutter system in the floor. CrawlSeal is 100% waterproof and has an anti-microbial coating.
The homeowner now has peace of mind knowing these trustworthy repairs will protect her home even during the heaviest of rainstorms.
