While they have lived in their house for 42 years, homeowners in Reynoldsburg, OH, recently began to seriously question how healthy and safe their living environment really was. There were two partial crawl spaces adjacent to their basement that had some boxes of stored items inside.
These areas, however, were not ideal for storage. Along with appearing dark and dingy, the crawl spaces were full of debris and they were not properly sealed or lined.
Once they found information online about Ohio Basement Authority, the owners were motivated to contact us to learn more about how we could help them. They met with one of our inspectors who completed a thorough evaluation of the crawl spaces. Our inspector then recommended the perfect repair solutions.
Foreman Martimiano Alonso and his crew then transformed the crawl spaces with an encapsulation project.
After any stored items were removed from the crawl spaces, along with debris, failing liner and other nuisances, the crawl spaces were encapsulated in CrawlSeal liner. CrawlSeal is a thick and durable that is similar to swimming pool liner. This liner completely seals the crawl spaces to isolate them from the earth. CrawlSeal also acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, and it helps insulate the crawl spaces. The white liner also instantly brightens the crawl spaces.
Additionally, drainage matting was placed on the floors of the crawl spaces to enhance the durability of CrawlSeal. Spray foam was applied to the band joists in the crawl spaces for further insulation, and each crawl space was further sealed from outside air, water and pests with covers that were placed over the vents on the home’s exterior.
The homeowners are happy to have healthier and more functional crawl spaces, as well as a safer and healthier living environment because of these trustworthy repairs.
