Since they moved into their house a few years ago, they noticed unpleasant odors that they couldn’t seem to place. They rarely venture into the crawl space, but a recent investigation of this area under the home revealed improper sealing methods, open vents, mustiness, and the presence of rodents.
The owners wanted to rid their intended longtime home of these nuisances for good. During their research into potential repairs, the owners caught some of Ohio Basement Authority’s TV ads. They were then eager to contact us for more information about how we could help them.
The owners met with Inspector Francis Purcell who went into the crawl space to evaluate its condition. Francis found the same issues the homeowners were concerned with, and he then recommended some of our reliable crawl space repair solutions.
One of our crews then transformed the health and appearance of the crawl space.
After ridding the crawl space of the failing liner and other nuisances, drainage matting was placed on the floor. This material helps enhance the durability of the encapsulation material.
The crawl space was then encapsulated with CrawlSeal liner. Similar to swimming pool liner, this thick and strong liner completely seals the crawl space to isolate it from the earth. CrawlSeal also serves as a moisture and vapor barrier, and it helps insulate the crawl space.
Additionally, vent covers were placed over the vents on the home’s exterior to further seal the crawl space from outside air, water and pests. A door also was installed as a more secure access point.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these trustworthy repairs have helped them create a safer and healthier living environment for their family.
