While a man’s mother has lived in her house for 50 years, he wanted to take steps now to ensure the home’s safety and future resale value. During the last several years, they have been keeping an eye on possible structural problems. Different areas of the foundation walls were cracking and tilting inward, and these issues only seemed to worsen with time.
Previous attempts to correct these issues were not successful, so the man wanted to find the best permanent solution. He knew he could count on Ohio Basement Authority for this endeavor, as he previously had us complete a similar repair project in his own home.
The man again met with the same inspector who visited the home in Elmore, OH. During his evaluation, our inspector found metal and wooden support beams were not properly supporting the walls. He then recommended some of our reliable foundation repair solutions.
Foreman Milton Castro and his crew then installed two types of solutions to permanently stabilize these walls and prevent any further cracking and inward movement.
Carbon Fiber supports were placed on the walls that were not severely cracking or bowing inward. These sturdy supports firmly adhere to the walls to stabilize them and hold them in their current positions.
IntelliBrace beams also were installed on the wall that had more dramatic cracking and bowing to help improve its condition. The top of the beams are secured to the floor joists and then plumbed against the wall as level as possible. The bottoms of the beams are then anchored to the floor. A large-diameter bolt at the top of the wall can be adjusted and tightened to potentially improve and help straighten the wall. Unlike typical metal support beams, the IntelliBrace beams are zinc-coated to resist corrosion and damage.
The home will now be a safer living environment for many years to come because of these trustworthy repairs.
