After living in her house for four years, a homeowner in Galena, OH, recently noticed some issues in the partial crawl space adjacent to the basement. She detected excessive moisture, humidity and mustiness in this area. These conditions also could be increasingly worse when coupled with the debris and failing insulation and lining in the crawl space.
The homeowner would like to live in the house for the foreseeable future, so she wanted to be sure to properly address any unhealthy conditions in the home. During her research into potential repairs, she found information through Angie’s List about Ohio Basement Authority. She was then eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help her.
She met with one of our inspectors who completed a thorough evaluation of the crawl space. Our inspector then suggested the perfect repair solutions that would transform the health and appearance of the crawl space.
After removing the debris and other nuisances from the crawl space, Foreman Levi Fletcher and his crew then began to install our permanent solutions. Drainage matting was first placed on the crawl space floor to enhance the durability of the encapsulation material.
The crawl space was then encapsulated in CrawlSeal. This thick and durable liner, which is similar to swimming pool liner, is placed on the walls and floor to completely seal the crawl space and isolate it from the earth. CrawlSeal is a moisture and vapor barrier that prevents any noxious odors from infiltrating the crawl space and house. CrawlSeal also helps insulate the crawl space. This liner has been treated with an anti-microbial coating to prevent mold and mildew growth, and it is completely waterproof.
The homeowner now has peace of mind knowing these trustworthy solutions have helped ensure the health and safety of her living environment for many years to come.
