A homeowner has lived in her house in Blacklick, OH, for eight years. Issues with mice in the crawl space, along with odors and failing insulation, recently have gotten worse. The owner has tried to address these problems with traps and spray foam in the small openings in the crawl space, but nothing has worked.
The homeowner wanted to find a more permanent solution, so she started searching for potential repairs. During her research, she came across Ohio Basement Authority’s website. She was eager to contact us for further guidance and meet with one of our inspectors.
Inspector Jeff Floit visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the crawl space. Jeff then presented the homeowner with various solutions to transform the health and appearance of this area.
Foreman Martimiano Alonso and his crew began the repair project by first ridding the crawl space of any debris and other nuisances. Thick drainage matting was placed on the floor to add cushioning to the floor and enhance the durability of the encapsulation material.
ExTremeBloc insulation was then placed on the crawl space walls, and spray foam was applied to the band joists for additional insulation.
The crawl space then was encapsulated in CrawlSeal liner. This thick and durable liner, similar to swimming pool liner, completely seals the crawl space and isolates it from the earth. CrawlSeal also acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, and it is tough enough to crawl on.
The homeowner is happy this project was completed to help enhance the health and safety of her home.
