After living in her house for 30 years, a homeowner in Edison, OH, began to notice a problem in her basement. Water would leak into the basement almost every time it rained, and she endured one instance of basement flooding.
The owner plans to live in the house for many more years, and she didn’t want to have to continue to deal with the headache of worrying about her stored belongings.
As she began to search for repair possibilities, the owner found information about Ohio Basement Authority on Home Advisor. After expressing her interest, the owner then scheduled an appointment to meet with one of our inspectors.
Inspector Andrew Rothenberg then visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the basement. Along with visible evidence of water intrusion and damage, Andrew found that the existing sump pump was obviously failing to keep up with the demand of the leaking, flooding water. Andrew then presented the owner with some of our reliable basement waterproofing solutions.
Foreman Martimiano Alonso and his crew then worked to upgrade the basement waterproofing system by installing these solutions that included the BasementGutter interior drainage system and SafeDri Battery Backup System.
The basement’s perimeter was excavated in order to properly install the BasementGutter system. BasementGutter is specially designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing to accept seeping water from the walls and floor. Weep holes also were drilled into the bottom courses of block to allow seeping and built-up water in the walls to escape into BasementGutter.
Any water intercepted by the BasementGutter system is then directed to drain into the SafeDri Battery Backup System, a more reliable sump pump system. The SafeDri features two powerful pumps inside its liner, as well as an external backup battery. The latter ensures the continued operation of the system even during power outages. The system also was installed in the larger SafeDri Triple liner to allow for easy future upgrades.
The homeowner can now use her basement for storage without the worry of basement flooding because of these trustworthy repairs.
