Homeowners in West Jefferson, OH, have lived in their house for less than one year. During that time, the structure sustained a devastating fire. As the homeowners worked to rebuild the house, they noticed water was leaking into the basement.
The owners wanted to make sure they had a safe and healthy home, starting from the ground up. They began to search for repair options, and they were eager to contact Ohio Basement Authority after finding our website and more information about our company.
Inspector Drew Black then visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the problematic basement. After doing so, Drew and the owners discussed their goals with a repair project. They wanted to get the problem fixed right away so they would never have to deal with it again. Drew then presented the owners with some of our waterproofing solutions.
Foreman Colin Sotlar and his crew then ensured the basement’s health and safety by installing the BasementGutter interior drainage system and SafeDri Triple sump pump, as well as exterior drain lines and FreezeGuard and YardWell attachments.
The basement’s perimeter was first excavated to properly install the BasementGutter system. BasementGutter is specially designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing. Weep holes were drilled into the bottom of the walls to allow seeping and built-up water to escape and flow into the BasementGutter system.
Any water that leaks into the basement from the walls and floor will be intercepted by BasementGutter and then directed to drain into the SafeDri Triple system. The SafeDri Triple is the “king” of sump pumps. This system houses three powerful pumps inside its liner, and it has an external backup battery to ensure its continued operation even during power outages.
The SafeDri Triple then pumps water out of the basement through discharge lines. FreezeGuards were attached to the exterior sump pump discharge lines to prevent flooding if the lines should freeze or become blocked. These lines also were tied into a new downspout conductor line that was installed on the property by being placed in the ground. The line was directed to drain far enough away from the home, and a YardWell outlet was used to conceal the end of this line in the yard.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these reliable solutions are protecting their home and will keep it dry.
