Since moving into their house nine years ago, homeowners in Hilliard, OH, have been struggling with an ongoing issue. Water continued to leak inside the basement after heavy rains and leave puddles and other damage behind. While there was an existing sump pump system in the basement, it obviously was failing to keep up.
Frustrated with the constant cleanup, the owners wanted to address this problem once and for all. As they scoured the Internet for helpful resources, the owners came across Ohio Basement Authority’s website. After reading about our company, our people and our services, the owners were motivated to contact us for additional guidance.
Inspector Andy Kennedy then visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the leaking basement. After doing so, Andy and the homeowners discussed their goals with a repair project. They wanted to always keep the basement dry and reduce odors. Keeping these in mind, Andy then presented the owners with the perfect repair solutions.
Foreman Martimiano Alonso and his crew then worked to ensure the health and safety of the home’s basement by installing the BasementGutter drainage system, SafeDri sump pump and dehumidifier.
The project began by excavating the basement’s perimeter to create a trench for the BasementGutter system. Weep holes also were drilled into the bottom of the walls to help seeping or built-up water in the walls to escape and flow into the BasementGutter system. The BasementGutter drainage system is a series of channels that are specially designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing to accept seeping water from the walls and floor.
Any water intercepted by BasementGutter is then directed to drain into the new, more reliable sump pump system that was installed – the SafeDri Battery Backup System. The SafeDri features two powerful pumps inside its liner, as well as an external backup battery. The latter ensures the continued operation of the system even during power outages. The system also was installed in the larger SafeDri Triple liner to allow for easy future upgrades.
A dehumidifier also was installed. This compact but powerful and energy-efficient unit cleans and filters the air, controls moisture and humidity, and reduces odors and the potential for mold growth. The dehumidifier also self-drains into the SafeDri system so there are no buckets to empty and replace like typical dehumidifiers.
The homeowners can rest easier knowing their home will be protected by these trustworthy repair solutions.
