Having a safe and healthy place to live is very important to a homeowner in Sunbury, OH. She has lived in her house for nine years, but in recent months she noticed moisture, humidity, and even mold beginning to be a problem.
Hoping to address these issues once and for all, the owner started to look into repair options. She was motivated to contact Ohio Basement Authority after seeing one of our TV ads. She then met with Inspector Zeke Fowler who evaluated the condition of her home, including the crawl space. This area underneath the house was not properly sealed or insulated, and Zeke recommended the best solutions to address these issues.
One of our crews then transformed the health of the crawl space and home with several reliable repair solutions.
ExTremeBloc panels were first placed on the crawl space walls to better insulate the area. Spray foam also was applied to the band joists in the crawl space for further insulation.
The crawl space was completely sealed and isolated from the earth with CrawlSeal. This thick and durable liner acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, and it further assists with insulating the crawl space. Drainage matting was placed on the crawl space floor before the encapsulation, which enhances the strength of the CrawlSeal material.
These solutions work together to improve the health and appearance of the crawl space, as well as its functionality. It is now a more ideal area that can be used for storage.
Additionally, we placed a dehumidifier in the basement to help improve the home’s air quality. This unit cleans and filters the air, helps control moisture and humidity, and reduces odors and the potential for mold growth.
The owner now has peace of mind knowing these trustworthy repairs have helped her create a safer and healthier forever home.
