After living in her house for 16 years, a homeowner in Powell, OH, wanted to address an often forgotten about area in homes – the crawl space. She and her husband use their crawl space for storage, and she wondered about the condition of this area.
There were no serious issues she knew of, but after seeing Ohio Basement Authority’s TV ads, she was motivated to improve the health, appearance and safety of the crawl space. After contacting us, the owners met with Inspector Andrew Rothenberg. Andrew completed a thorough evaluation of the crawl space, and he recommended the perfect repair solutions.
One of our crews first took great care to remove the existing fiberglass insulation, plastic liner, and any debris in the crawl space. Then they worked to properly seal and insulate this area with CrawlSeal and ExTremeBloc.
ExTremeBloc insulation panels were first placed on the walls, and the crawl space was then encapsulated in thick and durable CrawlSeal liner. This liner, which is similar to swimming pool liner, completely seals the crawl space to isolate it from the earth. It also acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, and helps insulate the crawl space, as well. Spray foam was applied to the band joists to help further insulate the area.
These solutions work together to improve the health, safety, appearance, and functionality of the crawl space, thus giving the homeowners peace of mind and a more ideal storage area.
