After living in their house for several years, homeowners in Westerville, OH, were motivated to address a lingering problem.
There is a partial crawl space adjacent to their basement that they use for storage. But they can only use the portion closest to the basement because of the unsightly, unhealthy conditions throughout the rest of the space. The open vents are allowing outside air, water and pests such as mice inside, and the insulation and plastic floor liner is failing and nasty.
The owners wanted to correct these issues once and for all, so they started to research repair options. After finding information online about Ohio Basement Authority, the owners were eager to contact us for further guidance. They met with Inspector John Becker Sr. who ventured into the crawl space to complete a thorough evaluation of this area’s condition. John then recommended the perfect repair solutions.
One of our crews then transformed the health and appearance of the crawl space by properly encapsulating and insulating the area.
Once the debris and other nuisances were removed from the crawl space, ExTremeBloc insulation panels were placed on the walls. Spray foam was added to the band joists for additional insulation and protection.
Drainage matting was placed on the floor to enhance the durability of the encapsulation material, and the crawl space was then encapsulated in CrawlSeal liner. This thick and strong liner completely seals the crawl space to isolate it from the earth, and it also serves as a moisture and vapor barrier. CrawlSeal is tough enough to crawl on, making the crawl space an ideal storage area.
Vent covers also were placed on the home’s exterior to prevent outside nuisances from entering the crawl space.
The homeowners are happy to have a transformed crawl space, as well as a safer and healthier home because of these trustworthy repairs.
