A longtime homeowner in Columbus, OH, has never known what it’s like to have a completely dry basement. Since she moved into the house 35 years ago, leaking water has been an ongoing issue. She recently noticed this problem was getting worse, and she wanted to have it fixed once and for all.
After seeing Ohio Basement Authority’s TV ads, the owner was eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help her. Inspector Andy Kennedy visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the leaking basement. Andy then recommended the perfect solutions to permanently keep the basement dry.
One of our crews, led by Foreman Jose De Jesus Tellez Ortiz, then waterproofed the basement the basement with the BasementGutter interior drainage system and SafeDri Battery Backup System.
The crew first excavated the basement’s perimeter in order to properly install the BasementGutter system. Weep holes also were drilled into the bottom of the walls to allow any seeping or built-up water to drain from the walls and into the BasementGutter system.
BasementGutter was then placed in the sub-floor. This drainage system is specifically designed to sit atop the footing and out of the “mud zone” so it can intercept seeping water from the walls and floor. This system also has a special wall flange at the back to allow water from the walls to flow behind and into the drainage channel.
Any water collected by BasementGutter is then directed to drain to the SafeDri sump pump system that was installed to replace the older, inefficient sump pump. The SafeDri system features two powerful pumps inside its liner, as well as an external backup battery. This battery ensures the system will always operate to pump water out of the basement, even during power outages.
The owner now has peace of mind knowing these trustworthy solutions have helped her create a safe, healthy, and dry living environment.
