A longtime homeowner in Lewis Center, OH, was concerned with the safety and structural stability of her home. Even though steel beams were placed against the walls, one wall was showing signs of failure in the form of various cracks and inward tilting.
The owner wanted to nip these problems in the bud before any serious damage resulted. After seeing Ohio Basement Authority’s TV ads, she wanted to contact us for further assistance. One of our inspectors completed a thorough evaluation of the home and its problematic foundation wall. He then presented the owner with one type of our many reliable foundation repair solutions.
Foreman Jamey Hackett and his crew then permanently stabilized the wall with several Carbon Fiber supports. These supports firmly adhere to the wall to prevent any further cracking or inward movement.
In order to ensure a clean work space, as well as the proper adhesion of the Carbon Fiber strips to the wall, the wall was sanded down in the areas where the strips were to be installed. Holes are then knocked into the bottom courses of the block wall and reinforcing steel, or rebar, is placed inside. This helps anchor the wall. The holes are then filled with cement.
Epoxy resin is then applied to the wall and the Carbon Fiber strips. Small steel brackets are attached to the sill plate on the top of the wall to anchor the Carbon Fiber supports. Another coat of epoxy resin is applied to the straps to seal them against the wall.
The homeowner now has peace of mind knowing this trustworthy repair solution has helped create a safer living environment.
