As a homeowner, a landlord in Chillicothe, OH, wanted to make sure his tenants would have a safe and healthy living environment. The renters recently brought some issues to his attention, including water in the basement. The walls and floor were visibly leaking and resulting in puddles and streams on the floor. The basement is used for storage and laundry, and various items were in danger of being damaged and ruined.
The owner wanted to find a permanent fix to these problems. After seeing Ohio Basement Authority’s TV ads, he wanted to contact us for further guidance. One of our inspectors visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the problematic basement, and he presented the owner with the best repair solutions.
One of our crews then waterproofed the basement with the BasementGutter and SafeDri systems.
The basement’s perimeter was first excavated to install the BasementGutter interior drainage system. BasementGutter is specially designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing to accept seeping water from the walls and floor.
This water is then directed to the SafeDri Battery Backup System. The SafeDri features two powerful pumps inside its liner, as well as an exterior backup battery. This battery ensures the system will continue to operate to pump water out of the basement even during power outages.
The walls were covered with CrawlSeal liner to help direct leaking water down to the BasementGutter system, as well as help improve the basement’s appearance.
Additionally, a FreezeGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line, and this line was tied into a new downspout conductor line installed on the property. This line was directed to drain far away from the home’s foundation, and the end of this line in the yard was concealed with a YardWell outlet.
The homeowner and the tenants are happy these reliable repairs were installed to help create a safer and healthier living environment.
