After living in their newly built house for a couple of years, homeowners in Ostrander, OH, began experiencing health issues. One of the residents had asthma, allergies, and the flu. They wondered if these problems could have been caused by their crawl space.
The homeowners contacted Ohio Basement Authority, and Matt Wojciechowski performed a thorough inspection. He found a substantial leak and some pooling water in the crawl space, as well as condensation and mold. The existing insulation and vapor barrier was also beginning to fail.
One of our expert crews installed permanent solutions that completely transformed the crawl space.
The area was encapsulated with heavy-duty CrawlSeal liner. This liner isolates the home from the earth and stops moisture penetration. It dramatically reduces the humidity level in the air, eliminates mold growth and rot from the crawl space, and makes the whole house healthier.
Drainage matting was also placed on the crawl space floor underneath CrawlSeal. This adds durability, puncture resistance, and a thermal break.
The older fiberglass insulation was removed, and ExTremeBloc insulation panels were installed on the crawl space walls. These water-resistant panels are two inches thick, and are extremely cost effective and energy efficient.
The homeowners are now happy to have a house that will be healthy for years to come.
