After recently moving into their house, homeowners in Chillicothe, OH, started to notice water on the basement floor and soaking the existing carpet. It got worse as the ground began to thaw, and all of the snow on the ground melted. This water was seeping into the basement and causing problems. The homeowners were concerned with the safety of their belongings, and they wanted to be sure the area would be dry so they can finish the basement.
They contacted Ohio Basement Authority with the goal of finding a permanent solution that would protect their home. One of our inspectors recommended several waterproofing options, as well as ways to reinforce the foundation walls. They also received opinions and quotes from other companies, but were particularly impressed by the quality, patented products Ohio Basement Authority installs.
One of our expert crews excavated the basement's perimeter to install the sub-floor BasementGutter drainage system. If any water seeps into the basement, BasementGutter will catch it and drain it to a SafeDri Triple Sump Pump. The reliable SafeDri Triple features three pumps, as well as a battery back-up. This will allow the sump pump to run even if the power goes out.
A new sump pump discharge line was installed, and a FreezeGuard was attached to it just outside the house. The FreezeGuard allows water to escape if the discharge line would freeze in the winter or become blocked for any reason.
A total of 15 Carbon Fiber wall supports - 9 on the south wall and 6 on the west wall - were installed to stabilize foundation walls that were beginning to crack and bow inward.
The homeowners are pleased these products were installed to permanently keep the basement dry and structurally stable for many years to come.
