During the eight years they have lived in their house, homeowners in Reynoldsburg, OH, have noticed cracked and bowing foundation walls getting worse. Concerned with wall failure, they contacted Ohio Basement Authority.
Inspector Matt Wojciechowski performed a thorough inspection at the 40-year-old house. He noticed various cracking patterns on the foundation walls, including horizontal cracks near the top and middle of the walls. This is one of the first symptoms homeowners will notice in the case of a bowing wall. Horizontal cracks usually start out small and grow over time due to hydrostatic pressure caused by expanding soils exerting pressure on the wall.
After observing these wall conditions, Matt suggested various foundation repair options.
Per Matt's recommendation, one of our expert crews installed the IntelliBrace System. A total of 15 heavy-duty, zinc-plated steel beams were installed on three of the problematic foundation walls.
The tops of the steel beams are first fastened and secured to the floor joists. After they are plumbed, the bottom of the beams are anchored to the floor. The beams can then be tightened at intervals for wall improvement. These beams will permanently stabilize the foundation walls, and they are protected by a lifetime transferable warranty guaranteeing no further inward movement of the wall where they are installed.
The homeowners are happy to have a home that will now be structurally stable for many years to come.
