The owners of a home in northeast Columbus, OH, plan to live in their house long-term, and they want to be sure it will be a dry and stable living environment.
During the last year, they have noticed cracking and inward bowing of one of the foundation walls getting worse. Water also leaked through the cracks and onto the basement floor.
Hoping to avoid further damage, they contacted Ohio Basement Authority. Inspector Brendan Kent performed a thorough evaluation of the 24-year-old property, and suggested various basement waterproofing and foundation repair options.
Per Brendan's recommendation, one of our expert crews installed the sub-floor BasementGutter drainage system throughout the basement's perimeter. If any water seeps into the basement, the patented BasementGutter will intercept it and drain it to the SafeDri Triple Sump Pump System. This is the most reliable sump pump system on the market, as it features three pumps inside the liner. It is also equipped with a back-up battery that will allow the sump pump to continue to work even in the event of a power outage.
The SafeDri Triple pumps water out of and away from the home through new discharge lines that were installed. A FreezeGuard was also attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line to allow water to escape even if the line would become blocked or freeze in the winter.
The IntelliBrace System was also installed to shore up the failing foundation wall. Five heavy-duty, zinc-plated steel beams were placed along the south foundation wall. Once plumbed and anchored, these beams will stabilize the wall in its current position. They can also be tightened at intervals for potential wall improvement.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing their home will be structurally sound and free of water for many years to come!
