During heavy springtime rains, seeping water was beginning to saturate the basement walls and floor of a church-owned home in Bidwell, OH. Flooding caused damage to various items, and was beginning to affect the HVAC system.
Because of the ongoing concern for future flooding and damage to the minister's home, members of the church board of trustees contacted Ohio Basement Authority. One of the members previously had foundation work completed by our company.
Inspector Matt Wojciechowski thoroughly inspected the property and suggested several permanent waterproofing solutions.
Per Matt's recommendations, one of our expert crews installed the sub-floor BasementGutter drainage system throughout the basement's perimeter. If there is any water intrusion in the basement, it will drain into the BasementGutter and to a SafeDri Triple sump pump. The SafeDri Triple, which is equipped with three pumps and a back-up battery, will then pump the water out of the basement.
New sump pump discharge lines were installed, and FreezeGuards were attached to the exterior lines to prevent flooding if the lines freeze or become blocked.
Because water would also seep into a stairwell through a back door, a section of drainage pipe was installed at the foot of the stairs. The design allows for water to drain into the grate and then flow into the connected BasementGutter.
The church board was excited to have these installations completed so the home will be a safe, dry and healthy living environment for many years to come!
