After living in his house for almost one year, a homeowner in Huntsville, OH, began to notice exterior drainage issues as well as dampness and a musty smell in the crawl space. He wanted to find permanent solutions to fix groundwater seepage, control the earth's moisture, and prevent mold, rot and odors.
He contacted Ohio Basement Authority, and Inspector Matt Wojciechowski performed a thorough evaluation at the 54-year-old home. He suggested various repair solutions that would create a healthier crawl space, as well as a healthier home.
Per Matt's recommendations, one of our expert crews encapsulated the crawl space with heavy CrawlSeal liner. This durable liner isolates the crawl space environment from the earth, and acts as a moisture and vapor barrier. CrawlDrain was installed throughout the perimeter of the crawl space to intercept any seeping water. From there, the water will be drained into the SafeDri Pro sump pump, which replaced the older sump pump. A powerful dehumidifier was also installed to filter and purify the air, and it will drain into the SafeDri Pro.
A new sump pump discharge line was installed, and a FreezeGuard was attached to the exterior line. New downspout conductor lines were also installed and buried underground on the property to direct water away from the home's foundation. Exterior vent covers were installed to keep outside air out of the crawl space, so these interior products can work efficiently to keep the crawl space free of water and moisture.
The small crawl space was also difficult to enter, so one of the windows was removed and an exterior access point was created. The access well and door was installed as a durable, safe and secure access point to the crawl space.
The homeowner was excited to have these products installed so he would have a healthier living environment for many years to come!
