They have lived in their house in Galloway, OH, since it was built 28 years ago, but the homeowners were becoming concerned with structural integrity recently.
One of the foundation walls was beginning to exhibit signs of failure in the form of horizontal and stair-step cracking patterns. These could be seen in areas in front of and behind a set of stairs.
While these types of issues are commonly seen on problematic foundation walls, it is best to seek professional assistance. These problems will only get worse over time, and will be more costly to repair the longer they are neglected.
Keeping all this in mind, the owners contacted Ohio Basement Authority because they wanted to find a permanent solution to ensure the home's structural integrity. Inspector Matt Wojciechowski performed a thorough evaluation at the house and suggested a permanent foundation repair method.
All of the wall cracks were repaired, and one of our expert crews installed five Wall Anchors on the foundation wall. Heavy-duty, galvanized earth anchors are securely embedded in stable soil away from the foundation wall. They are connected to sturdy steel wall plates with long galvanized steel rods.
This system will permanently stabilize the wall, as well as offer the best opportunity to straighten it over time without the cost and disruption of a foundation replacement project. The unique system also offers the ability to tighten the anchors when exterior soil shrinks during dry periods.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing the house they've lived in and will continue to live in for many years will always be safe and stable because of this installation.
