They have enjoyed living in their house for more than 30 years, but homeowners in Dublin, OH, knew the time had come to pass the house on to someone else. Their son and his friends plan to make the 38-year-old house their home, so they wanted to make sure it would be a healthy living environment for them.
The owners noticed issues with moisture and cracking foundation walls in their basement, and they wanted to address these problems as soon as possible.
Foundation walls can begin to fail over time as the exterior soil exerts force known as hydrostatic pressure on the walls. This results in cracking and bowing, and allows water to seep into the basement.
The owners contacted Ohio Basement Authority after seeing one of our TV commercials. Inspector Matt Wojciechowski visited them, completed a thorough evaluation at the home, and proposed several permanent repair solutions.
Per Matt's recommendations, one of our expert crews installed one of our many foundation repair products. Fourteen sturdy Carbon Fiber wall supports were placed on the problematic foundation walls to permanently reinforce the walls in their current positions, as well as prevent further cracking and inward bowing.
Several waterproofing products were also installed to address the basement's moisture issue and prevent further problems from water intrusion.
If any water would seep into the basement, the full-perimeter sub-floor BasementGutter drainage system will intercept it and drain it to a sump pump. A powerful SafeDri Pro x was installed to pump this water out of the basement and away from the foundation. This pump was placed inside a larger SafeDri Triple liner so the future owners will be able to easily upgrade the unit if they choose.
The air quality was improved by the installation of a powerful Basement Air System. The energy-efficient unit controls humidity and cleans and purifies the air. It also drains into the BasementGutter system so the owners will not have to worry about emptying any buckets.
Outside the home, new downspout conductor lines were installed underground and led out to the street for drainage. A FreezeGuard was also attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line to prevent flooding should the line freeze or become blocked.
The owners were excited for these projects to be completed so the home will be a safer and healthier living environment for their son for many years to come!
