A Parade of Homes visitor came across our booth and expressed concerns about her walls cracking. She had only moved in about six months ago.
One of our inspectors visited her home in Marion, OH, to take a look at the problem. He reported that one wall was moving up 1 1/4 of an inch, and it was showing signs of stair-step cracking. These cracks are typical signs of foundation settlement and are very common in brick and concrete block walls.
Our inspector suggested using one of our foundation repair solutions, Carbon Fiber straps, to repair and stabilize the foundation walls.
One of our crews then adhered several Carbon Fiber straps to the wall with foundation failure. Carbon fiber is a very strong material which is nearly impossible to stretch, and it is not likely to break under tension. This will stabilize the walls and prevent them from cracking or bowing further.
The homeowner is now reassured knowing that her walls are stable.
