A couple recently purchased a home in Carroll, OH. After having a home inspector out to see it, they became concerned with some issues in the crawl space under their home. Old insulation littered the dirty room, and the crawl space ceiling (the home's floor) was unstable. They called Ohio Basement Authority for a solution.
One of our certified inspectors visited the home and explained the repair options. He mentioned CrawlSeal Liner, drainage matting, IntelliJack, and IntelliBrace.
The homeowners decided to go with these repairs — why move into a new home when it has structural problems?
The installation crew first installed the IntelliJack support system to stabilize the floor joist and beams of the crawl space ceiling. These are steel jacks which, as a system, can support loads of more than 60,000 pounds.
They also added IntelliBrace beams for extra area support along the ceiling where the IntelliJacks were put in place. These are zinc-plated steel beams which are custom-fit to the area and secured with anchored wall brackets.
Then, they laid down drainage matting which allows any water to drain under it and into the sump pump system. It also provides extra cushioning for walking and storage.
Lastly, they attached CrawlSeal Liner to the crawl space floors and walls. This is a 7 layer, 20-millimeter-thick, reinforced antimicrobial plastic liner. It is used to isolate the crawl space from the outside elements.
The homeowners can now move into their new home worry-free because of these reliable repairs.
