Homeowners in Mount Gilead, OH, first noticed a crack in the outside of their basement wall in the spring. It appeared that someone else might have patched it in the past to no avail. They called Ohio Basement Authority for a more permanent solution.
One of our inspectors visited the home to decide which repair would work best for this specific problem. He suggested using Wall Anchors to correct the failing wall.
The homeowners agreed to have this system installed.
An installation crew came in and installed four Wall Anchors. These heavy-duty anchors were embedded into sturdy earth several feet away from the failing wall. These were then connected to the steel plates attached to the foundation wall with galvanized rods. The rods were tightened to bring the anchors and plates close together and pulled the foundation back into its original position.
The homeowners also opted to purchase wall anchor covers. These are plastic covers which conceal the wall plates and make the wall a little more decorative — these are great for finished basements and those used regularly.
This permanent solution will protect this family from foundation failure, and that fact is very comforting to them.
