A homeowner in Zanesville, OH contacted us about a wet corner in his basement that needed attention. He was planning to finish the basement in the near future and this problem was holding the project up.
He scheduled a free inspection and estimate with one of our inspectors. Our inspector reviewed the problems and provided the homeowner with a list of products we could use to fix the issues he observed.
The homeowner decided to go with Egress Window Block Wall, SafeDri Prox including a SafeDri backup, and BasementGutter.
The production crew first put in SafeDri Prox with an SafeDri battery back-up pumping system. This is a powerful ½ horsepower sump pump. The battery backup keeps the pump pumping in the event of a power outage.
Second, they installed an egress window which is something typically required in finished basements. An egress is a window large enough to escape out of in emergency, and one that has an attached window well and steps or a ladder.
Next, they installed BasementGutter sub-floor drainage system under the concrete basement floor. They also drilled weep holes into the core of every block to allow water from behind the wall to drain into the BasementGutter system. They placed gravel around the new drainage and re-concreted the basement floor in all areas removed.
Finally, they installed drainage pipe and tied it into water guard drainage system. In this case, the drain will catch water that runs in through the hatchway door and prevent it from flooding the basement.
With these waterproofing repairs, the homeowner now feels ready to finish his basement.
