During her annual trip into the crawl space, a homeowner in Jeffersonville, OH, noticed that the floor joists were not structurally sound. Most of the wooden support beams were cracking and she felt unsafe. He biggest fear was that she may fall through the floor above of the crawl space. She was also planning on selling the home in 2-3 years, so she wanted to fix it for the future homeowners as well.
She called Ohio Basement Authority to set up a free inspection and estimate with one of our inspectors. The inspector discussed the options for repairing the crawl space.
The homeowner decided to have several new beam supports put in to replace the others. She also opted to have IntelliJacks installed to keep the floor from sagging.
The wooden support beams were replaced with 40 new beams. Then, nine IntelliJacks were installed to prevent sagging. These are steel supports used to stabilize and level the girders and floor joists in a crawl space.
The homeowner now feels more comfortable walking on the floor above the crawl space, and more confident that she will be able to sell the home in a couple years.
