A Groveport, OH, home had moisture on the basement walls and some fine wall cracking. The homeowners wanted to take care of these problems prior to finishing the basement, so they called us in to repair the walls. They were also interested in installing a new window well.
Certified Inspector Brendan Kent went to the home to look at the basement. He explained the different waterproofing and foundation repair techniques that could be used to fix the walls and water leakage.
The homeowners decided to have a SunHouse Window Well, IntelliJack, Carbon Fiber, and SafeDri Prox with SafeDri Backup installed.
The production crew first put in the SafeDri Prox pump with the SafeDri battery back-up pumping system. The former is a 1/2 horsepower cast-iron sump pump which can pump 2,200 gallons per hour. The latter is a battery back-up system which keeps the pump working even if the power goes out. Then, they installed the SunHouse Basement Window Enclosure. This is a window well which is bright white and gives the basement a cleaner, brighter window space. It will bring more light into the basement from the reflecting color, it is maintenance-free, and includes an optional plastic cover which keeps the well free of rain, snow, pests, and debris.
Next, they installed the IntelliJack support system, typically used in crawl spaces, to stabilize the floor joist and beams which were sagging near the window. Finally, they installed Carbon Fiber straps. This is a heavy-duty material which has a high tensile strength, which means it is almost impossible to stretch. It will keep the walls from shifting or bowing further inward.
The homeowners are very happy with the results and they are no longer worried about foundation or water issues. They can now finish their basement with peace of mind.
