A homeowner in Racine, OH, owned two homes that were sold as a package due to their shared water line. The properties were built in the 1800s, so they were not properly waterproofed and water was leaking through the walls. So, he called Ohio Basement Authority for help.
Certified Inspector Brendan Kent visited the homes and assessed the issues that were present. He explained the various waterproofing products we offer and how they would work to repair the basements.
The homeowner decided to go with BasementGutter, SafeDri Prox with SafeDri backup, YardWell and FreezeGuard.
The production crew first installed the SafeDri Prox pump system, which includes a cast iron pump, liner, airtight lid with airtight floor drain, CleanPump Stand, and alarm system. They also attached the SafeDri battery back-up pumping system to keep the sump pump rolling even if the power goes out.
Next, they installed FreezeGuard on the exterior sump pump discharge line, which allows water to pass through the line if it becomes frozen.
Then, they installed a YardWell outlet at end of discharge line, which camouflages the end and prevents tripping hazards.
Finally, they installed the BasementGutter sub-floor drainage system. This is a unique piping system with holes on the side and a flange which catches water from the walls. It sits at an incline on the concrete footer to allow water to flow into the sump pump system.
The owner is happy with the results and no longer has to worry about either basement flooding.
