A couple in Marengo, OH, called us because their basement wall was bowing inward and cracking on the inside and outside. The house was built in 2010 and was not built for lasting stability, so they were looking to see what could be done to stop it from moving anymore.
One of our inspectors visited the home to see what we could do to mend the problem. He went over the different foundation repair products we offer and mentioned that Wall Anchors could be an excellent option.
The homeowners decided to go with this repair.
The production crew came in and installed 11 Wall Anchors. These are strong earth anchors which are embedded into the soil outside of the foundation walls. There are long, galvanized rod which connect these anchors to steel wall plates that go inside and against the cracked/bowing walls. The rods are tightened to pull these two parts closer together and, by effect, straightening the foundation back into place.
These anchors will serve as permanent repairs to keep the walls from cracking or bowing further. They can also be tightened over time to reverse the failure that has already occurred. The homeowners are thrilled with the results.
