A man recently purchased a home in Buckeye Lake, OH, and began to have concerns about the crawl space and basement. There seemed to be dampness and structural issues. After seeing one of our branded trucks in the area, he called Ohio Basement Authority to set up a free inspection and estimate.
One of our certified inspectors met with him to survey the problems and discuss solutions. He proposed a Door, CrawlSeal Liner, drainage matting, IntelliJack, and supplemental steel support beams.
The homeowner agreed to these repairs, so we called in one of our expert production teams to do the job.
They first installed the Door. This is a replacement for wooden or metal crawl space doors (which tend to rot and rust) that is made out of inorganic plastics and foams. It creates an airtight, waterproof seal between the crawl space and outside air.
Then, they installed encapsulating CrawlSeal Liner with drainage matting underneath. The liner is made of thick, reinforced plastic that will not tear and blocks out outside air, dirt, and pests. The drainage matting allows water to drain under it instead of puddling under the plastic, and provides extra cushioning.
Finally, they installed 10 IntelliJacks and several supplemental steel beams. IntelliJacks are steel supports that "jack" up sagging floors over crawl spaces. They are placed on engineered fill in order to transfer the weight of the home onto solid ground and off of the unstable soil. The supplemental beams were set up to provide further support to the crawl space walls and sagging floor.
The new homeowner no longer has concerns about his crawl space or basement, and he is appreciative for that.
