During the five years that they have lived in their house, homeowners in Marysville, OH, have never known what it’s like to have a dry basement. Water seemed to seep through the walls and the wall-floor cove, leaving small streams and puddles behind.
The owners put this issue on the back burner for some time, but they were motivated to address it once and for all after they recently noticed even more water seeping inside during periods of heavy rain. Once they learned about Ohio Basement Authority and our various services while conducting online research, the owners were eager to contact us for assistance in transforming their older home’s leaking basement.
The owners met with one of our inspectors who recommended some of our many reliable basement waterproofing products after completing a thorough evaluation of the basement.
One of our crews then installed these various solutions. The basement waterproofing system included the BasementGutter interior drainage system and an SafeDri sump pump. Any water that seeps inside the basement will be intercepted by BasementGutter and directed to the SafeDri. Equipped with two powerful pumps inside its liner, the SafeDri also features an external backup batter that ensures the system will continue to operate even in the event of a power outage.
A FreezeGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line to allow water to continue to escape the line if it freezes or becomes blocked. This line was tied into new downspout conductor lines that were installed on the property. One line was directed to drain at the edge of the property, and the end of this line was camouflaged with a YardWell outlet.
The water-damaged foundation walls were covered with the CrawlSeal wall system. CrawlSeal is typically used in crawl space encapsulation projects, but this thick and durable liner has other practical uses as well. Not only is the appearance of the walls improved, the CrawlSeal liner also helps in the waterproofing process. Any seeping water will flow behind CrawlSeal and down to the BasementGutter system below. CrawlSeal also acts as a moisture and vapor barrier.
The compact but powerful Dehumidifier also was installed to clean and filter the air, control humidity and reduce odors.
The homeowners can now rest easy knowing their basement will finally be dry and they will have a healthier living environment because of these reliable permanent solutions.
