Homeowners in Newark, OH, have lived in their house for 14 years. During the last several years, they have been monitoring a structural issue that was only continuing to worsen with time. One of the foundation walls was showing signs of failure in various cracks. It also was tilting inward.
The home was built more than 100 years ago, so it’s no surprise that the foundation walls would show signs of failure like these. The longer they are neglected, however, the more dangerous and costly they become.
The homeowners wanted to remedy these issues for good, so they began to investigate how to best address them. They recently noticed Ohio Basement Authority’s service trucks in their area, so they decided to contact us for a consultation with one of our inspectors. Inspector John Becker Sr. then completed a thorough evaluation of the home and the failing foundation wall, and then he presented the homeowners with the perfect permanent solution.
One of our crews installed several Wall Anchors on the problematic foundation wall.
First, holes were carefully augured in the yard for the earth anchors that are part of the system. Small holes are then drilled through the basement walls. Galvanized steel rods are driven out and earth anchors are installed and attached to the rods. Once the earth anchors are attached to the exterior portions of the rods, wall plates are attached to seat the earth anchor.
These heavy-duty anchors permanently stabilize the wall and offer the best opportunity to straighten the wall because of their unique design.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing their home will be a safer and structurally stable living environment because of this reliable repair solution.
