It can be difficult to sell a home with any significant issues or damage, including foundation wall cracks. Before selling, the homeowners must disclose these types of problems to potential buyers or attempt to have them repaired.
Before putting his house on the market, a homeowner in Portsmouth, OH, knew he needed to address one of the foundation walls in his home’s attached garage. This wall had various cracks, including some in stair-stepping patterns that indicate foundation wall failure and settlement.
The homeowner began to research how to best fix these problems, and he contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company online. He met with inspector John Dean who assessed the condition of the garage wall. John then presented the owner with the perfect repair solution.
Per John’s recommendation, one of our expert crews, led by Foreman Ryan Toledo, installed five Push Piers underneath the settling garage wall.
After the crew dug down to expose the footing, heavy-duty steel brackets were secured. Rugged steel tubes were driven through the brackets to more competent soils. The weight of the garage wall was then transferred through the piers to load bearing strata. This ensures no further settlement will occur, and the wall can be lifted back to level.
The homeowner now has peace of mind knowing this reliable repair process has helped him create a safer living environment for the next owners.
