When they moved into their house almost 20 years ago, homeowners in Huntsville, OH, intended to live in the house for many years. While they have found their forever home, the owners knew they needed to have various repairs completed over the years to maintain their home.
Several years ago, the homeowners started to notice small hairline cracks in various areas of the foundation walls. These cracks have only widened over time, and some areas of the walls were starting to tilt inwards. Water was starting to leak inside the basement through these cracks, as well.
The homeowners wanted to fix these problems before any serious damage resulted, so they began to research how to best address these issues. After learning more about Ohio Basement Authority online, they were eager to contact us for advice. They met with Inspector John Dean who completed a thorough evaluation of the basement’s condition. Each wall showed some form of failure, but John presented the homeowners with various solutions that would best suit each wall.
After meeting with John, the homeowners were eager for one of our crews, led by Foreman Michael Gramly, to improve the health and stability of their home.
The crew installed a few of our reliable foundation repair solutions on the walls. These included Carbon Fiber supports and steel I-Beams on the walls that were not severely cracking or bowing inward. Each of these pieces permanently stabilizes the walls where they are installed. They also protect the walls and prevent any further cracking or inward bowing.
Several IntelliBraces beams were placed on the walls that needed more attention. Similar to the other products, IntelliBraces also reinforce the walls and prevent any more damage. After the beams are fastened and secured to the floor joists, they are plumbed against the wall as level as possible. The bottoms of the beams are then anchored to the floor. The unique design of this system allows the beams to be tightened for wall improvement.
The basement also was waterproofed with the BasementGutter interior drainage system and SafeDri sump pump. The sub-floor BasementGutter system catches any seeping water from the walls and floor, and then directs this water to the SafeDri. This reliable sump pump system, equipped with an external backup battery, will always work to pump water out of the basement and away from the home’s foundation.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these reliable solutions have helped them create a safe and healthy forever home.
