After living in their house for almost five years, homeowners in Pataskala, OH noticed a glaring problem in the basement was only getting worse. Water seemed to regularly leak into the basement, which resulted in puddles on the floor and visible water damage on the walls and floor.
Along with eventually finishing the basement, the homeowners plan to live in this house for many years. They were motivated to have this issue corrected once and for all. They contacted Ohio Basement Authority after seeing our TV ads, and they were eager to meet with Inspector Jeff Floit to learn how we could help them create a dry basement and healthy home.
Jeff assessed the basement’s condition and then presented the homeowners with some of our reliable basement waterproofing solutions.
The homeowners were excited for Foreman Manuel Inguil to lead his crew in installing these products. They included the BasementGutter interior drainage system and SafeDri Prox sump pump.
After carefully covering any of the owners’ belongings in plastic, the crew excavated the basement’s perimeter. The BasementGutter is then placed in the sub-floor. This unique system is designed to sit on the footing so it can accept water from the walls and floor.
Any water collected by the BasementGutter system is then directed to the SafeDri Prox sump pump to be pumped out of the basement and away from the home’s foundation. The SafeDri Prox features a powerful ½ hp pump that can pump more than 2,000 gallons of water per hour out of the basement. The SafeDri Prox is one of the many reliable sump pump systems we offer, and we installed this system in the homeowners’ basement in the larger sump liner used for the SafeDri Triple system to allow for easy future upgrades.
A dehumidifier also was installed in the basement to clean and filter the air, control humidity and moisture, and eliminate odors and the potential for mold growth. The compact model is ENERGY STAR® certified and removes up to 95 pints of water per day.
A FreezeGuard also was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line to allow water to continue to drain from the line if it freezes or becomes blocked. This discharge line was tied into a new downspout conductor line that was installed on the property, and a YardWell outlet was attached to camouflage the end of the line at the edge of the property.
The homeowners are happy to now have a safe, healthy and dry home because of these trustworthy permanent solutions.
