When homeowners had their house built almost 30 years ago in Pickerington, OH, they knew they would be living there for a long time. It is not uncommon for homes to show their age and need various repairs over the years. However, during the last 10 years, the homeowners have noticed a couple problems only getting worse.
Two of the foundation walls were showing signs of failure in various cracks. The walls also appeared to be slightly tilting inward. The homeowners were concerned these issues could lead to even more serious problems, like a wall collapse, if they neglected these issues any longer.
While they hadn’t sought any assistance, they wanted to make sure these problems were correctly addressed with the best products. After seeing Ohio Basement Authority’s TV ads, they contacted us to learn more about how we could help them. They met with Inspector Brendan Kent who evaluated the condition of the basement walls, and he presented them with one of our many reliable foundation repair solutions.
The homeowners were eager for Foreman Michael Gramly to lead his crew in installing several IntelliBrace beams throughout the basement.
IntelliBrace beams may look like typical structural steel I-Beams, but they are unique and superior to these beams in many ways.
These steel beams are fastened and secured to the floor joists, and then they are plumbed against the wall as level as possible. The bottoms of the beams are then anchored to the floor. These heavy-duty beams are zinc-plated beams so they are protected from corrosion and damage, unlike the other metal and wooden supports. Another unique feature with this system is the ability to tighten the beams during dry seasons to potentially improve and straighten the walls over time.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing this trustworthy repair was completed to help them create a safer and stable living environment.
