Even though they have lived in their house for 10 years, it wasn’t until the last several months that homeowners in Hilliard, OH, began to notice structural problems in their basement. Some areas of the foundation walls were showing signs of failure in the form of various cracks. Some sections also seemed to be slightly tilting inward.
Along with the structural integrity of their home, the owners also were concerned with how these problems would affect the future resale value of the house. They wanted to fine the best repair solution suited to their repair needs and budget. While researching potential repairs, the owners came across information about Ohio Basement Authority online. They then contacted us to learn more about how we could assist them.
The owners met with Inspector Jacob Thomas who evaluated the condition of the walls. Jacob then presented the homeowners with one of our many reliable foundation repair solutions.
One of our crews installed a total of 14 Carbon Fiber supports on the three problematic foundation walls.
The crew first sanded down the areas of the walls where the straps would be installed to ensure a clean work area. Then they knocked holes into the bottom portions of the walls, placed rebar – reinforcing steel – into these holes to anchor the walls, and sealed the holes with concrete.
Strong epoxy resin is then applied to the wall and the Carbon Fiber strips. Small steel brackets are attached to the sill plate on the top of the wall to anchor the Carbon Fiber supports. Another coat of epoxy resin is applied to the straps to seal them against the wall.
These durable supports will permanently reinforce the walls where they are installed, as well as prevent any future cracking or inward bowing.
The homeowners are pleased to now have a safe and stable living environment because of this reliable repair solution.
