Updated Waterproofing System Will Keep a Leaking Basement Dry in Sunbury, OH

Thursday, July 6th, 2017 by Holly Richards-Purpura

Homeowners in Sunbury, OH, already are thinking ahead to when they intend to sell their house. Before they put the house on the market in the near future, they want to address any needed repairs.

They have lived in the home since it was built 15 years ago. During that time, they have lived with intermittent problems in the basement.

Water has leaked through the foundation walls and into the basement during the last several years, sometimes following periods of heavy rain. This resulted in puddles on the floor, saturated carpet, and even an instance of flooding.

Motivated to fix these problems once and for all, the owners began to research how to best address these issues. They came across information for Ohio Basement Authority on resources like Angie’s List, and they were eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help them.

They met with Inspector Drew Black who evaluated the condition of the basement and its waterproofing system. He noticed evidence of water intrusion, especially around the existing sump pump. It was obvious the current system was failing to keep up with any seeping water.

Drew then presented the homeowners with several of our reliable basement waterproofing solutions.

The homeowners were eager for one of our crews, led by Foreman Rich Pomales, to update their interior waterproofing system. This included installing the BasementGutter drainage system in the basement’s sub-floor. Any water that seeps inside the walls and floor will be intercepted by the BasementGutter system and directed to the SafeDri sump pump. Equipped with powerful pumps inside the liner, as well as a backup battery, the SafeDri will always work to pump water out of the basement.

Additionally, we attached a FreezeGuard to the exterior sump pump discharge line to allow water to escape the line if it freezes or becomes blocked for any reason. This discharge line also was tied into a new downspout conductor line that was installed on the property.

The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these trustworthy solutions will keep the home dry for many years to come.
